In an interview with timesRooney explained that winning the next World Cup would do wonders for the legacy of Messi or Ronaldo, but the former Barcelona star would become the best player on his books.

“For me, Argentina are the favourites,” Rooney said about the World Cup. Unlike 2018, they have a lot of good and strong players around Lionel Messi like Lautaro Martinez, Leandro Paredes, Rodrigo De Paul and of course Angel Di Maria.

“Winning the Copa America last year will give them confidence and take a little bit of pressure off them. The climate will suit them too. The only thing they are missing is the number 9, that focal point in attack, but I think they will be really dangerous.”

I watched a lot of videos of Diego Maradona who was a similar player, but Messi is better.
