Gareth Southgate is ready to unleash his attacking trinity of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Bucayo Saka as England target their first win in Italy in over 60 years.
Kane will break the England goalscoring record if he scores at Napoli, while Rashford and Saka are in fantastic form ahead of their opening European Championship qualifier.
However, recent experiences at international level for the three strikers have been difficult, with Southgate praising their “insatiable desire” to bounce back from personal setbacks.
Kane has admitted he will be forever haunted by his penalty misses at last year’s World Cup, and Rashford suffered a sharp drop in form after England’s final European season. But this season they are the second and fourth, respectively, as the best scorers in the English Premier League.

What did Gareth Southgate say when naming his team?
Southgate He bemoans the dearth of local talent But he did reveal that one of the players vying for a future promotion to the first team is Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.
With Mason Mount withdrawing from Chelsea with a pelvic injury, Gibbs-White is understood to be in Southgate’s thoughts. He was signed on a £25m deal with England in every age group from Under-16s to Under-21s.
“We love Morgan, we think he’s progressing well. He’s been a player like Steve Cooper’s under-17s, so he’s always shown great faith in him,” Southgate said.
“He’s having a good season at Forest, we think it’s a little early for him with us but we’re watching him closely.”
Harry Kane can make history at Napoli
Kane will make his first England appearance since the World Cup quarter-final loss to Italy, a rare low point in an impressive run for Tottenham and his country.
The 29-year-old is currently at Wayne Rooney’s level as England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
“I haven’t really felt the need to pick up the phone since the World Cup,” said Southgate. “He. She [his recovery] Is there in his performances with Tottenham.
“Sometimes you can get distracted and look for a pat on the back by calling out to a player but I can’t take any credit for what he did.
“What I’ve noticed is a player who still has a lot of confidence, who’s still ready to perform, who’s still hungry to score goals. Obviously he’s been through the personal milestone with Tottenham and then there’s this that he’s going to settle with us at some point.”
