Derby County striker David McGoldrick has been named the PFA Vertu Motors League Player of the Month for February.
The Irish veteran, who has been an inspiration since signing from Sheffield United in the summer, was on fire last month, contributing nine goals and an assist in six games as the Rams continue to return to the Championship.
The 35-year-old took 26% of the vote, beating stiff competition from Barnsley’s Jordan Williams, Bolton Wanderers’ Dion Charles, Fleetwood Town’s Sean Rooney, Sheffield Windass’ Josh Windass and Wycombe Wanderers’ Lewis Wing to win the award.
McGoldrick started February with a stunning hat-trick and one assist – all in just 68 minutes – in a 5-0 win over Morecambe at Pride Park.
He followed this up with both assists as Derby fell to play-off rivals Wycombe days later. They got back to winning ways with a 2–0 victory over Charlton Athletic, with McGoldrick opening the scoring from the penalty spot.
McGoldrick earned Derby’s consolation in a 4-1 defeat away to Barnsley, before capping off the month with one goal and one assist as they beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 at home.
