It was a mixed weekend for the World Series of Poker, with three matches going down in frozen conditions: Tottenham vs Leicester canceled the evening before the game, Brighton vs Arsenal three and a half hours early, Chelsea vs Liverpool… Six minutes after kick-off.

This left three matches standing, with Everton pulling off an impressive 3-0 win over West Ham, Aston Villa drawing with Manchester City and Manchester United drawing in a last-gasp draw against a spirited Reading to rise to the top of the Women’s Football League.

But who were the players who shone in particular? here 90 minutes WSL Round 11 Team of the Week.

GK: Jacqueline Burns (Reading) – Burns made a host of great saves – including a great stop to deny Katie Zelm a penalty – to keep it going. Manchester United In the Bay until the 87th minute, and it was really unfortunate to be on the losing side on Sunday.

Right-back: Lucy Hope (Everton) – The Everton right winger was a real threat all afternoon against West Ham, with Hope combining well with the impressive Nikulin Sorensen. Typically an all-action performer as she continues to look home at full-back, winning 75% of tackles and 86% of ground duels to help her side get a clean sheet.

Centre-back: Maya Le Tissier (Man Utd) – Composed and powerful on the ball to help United build from the back. Le Tissier also put in a really solid defensive performance, winning 100% on tackles and ground duels to see her team to a clean sheet and three points as they moved up to first place.

Centre-back: Megan Finnegan (Everton) – The afternoon is perfect for an Everton centre-back; Rock solid in the heart of the backline as the Toffees scored their fourth WSL A clean sheet this season, impressive play from behind and on the score sheet with her team’s second courtesy of a header from a corner kick.

Left-back: Sarah Mayling (Aston Villa) – Both full-backs put in fine displays for Villa as they held on to Manchester City, Maz Pacheco being similarly impressive at the opposite end against Lauren Hemp. The tenacious Mayling did brilliant defensive work against Chloe Kelly, canceling the threat of the usually devastating England winger by starving Bunny Shaw out of service while City struggled to threaten the Villa goal.

CM: Justine Vanhaevermaet (reading) – Sitting in front of the Reading fourth team, Vanheifermaet produced a disciplined performance to limit Ella Ton’s influence in Manchester United’s number 10 role. She won 83% of her tackles, made four tackles in a big defensive showing and came close to scoring twice.

Midfielder: Kenza Daly (Aston Villa) – Aston Villa won their midfield battle against Manchester City, and Daly was key to that in an effortlessly classy performance alongside the similarly impressive Lucy Staniforth. The French midfielder carried the ball around effectively and dangerously time after time and combined well with Rachel Daly in the build-up to Villa’s opening game. What a season you are in.

Midfielder: Karen Holmgard (Everton) – The Toffees set the tone by opening the scoring after just three minutes, getting the better of both West Ham’s bodies to power home with a header from a short corner. He won plenty of passes to protect the Everton defence, and was neat and tidy in possession.

FW: Jess Park (Everton) – She continued her impressive season with another sparkling display, setting up Everton’s opener by working an apron of space for herself and sending in a wicked cross from a short angle. His decision making and selflessness shone in the final third throughout.

Forward: Rachael Williams (Manchester United) – Williams scored as many minutes in regular time as the abandoned Chelsea-Liverpool game… but she made a huge impact off the bench against Reading, scoring one of the best goals and certainly the most important goal of the weekend. The Manchester United striker slashed past three Reading defenders before emphatically finding the roof of the net Her side fired at the top of the WSL.

Win: Kirsty Hanson (Aston Villa) – An electric performance from the Villa winger got Esme Morgan into all sorts of trouble in the first half with her pace and directness. She managed to equalize with a really good goal – despite slipping while shooting – to earn her team a great point at Academy Stadium, and it’s a pity she didn’t double her tally in the second half after breaking the post.
