Read on to find out who made the cut 90 minutes Team of the week…
GK: Janina Letsig (Leicester) – The German stopper has already been a revelation since its arrival in January and contributed directly to bringing another point closer to safety. She made two great saves in the second half to keep a clean sheet and equalizer, one in the 89th minute.
Right-back: Emma Koivisto (Liverpool) – A goal and assist in Liverpool’s second Women’s World Cup win in just five matches this year made it big and put more distance between the Reds and the bottom.
Centre-back: Kadisha Buchanan (Chelsea) – Sam Kerr grabbed the headlines with a stunning goal, but Chelsea’s narrow victory over Manchester United was built on a solid defensive performance. The Canadian has completely eliminated In-Form Alessia Russo.
Center back: Mille Bright (Chelsea) – It was more like Buchanan’s centre-back partner. Bright wore the Chelsea captain’s armband, not United.
Left-back: Jess Carter (Chelsea) – The versatile defender put together a very powerful left-back shift, and it was all the more impressive when this seemed to be Manchester United’s best route to creativity.
RM: Messi Bo Cairns (Liverpool) – The local favorite scored what proved to be the winning goal for her side, slashing as Liverpool deftly swept into the net.
CM: Robbie Mays (Leicester) – The Foxes have frustrated Everton throughout and much of that has been the brutal performance of the loaned teenage midfielder. She recovered the ball 24 times during the game, along with two tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
Midfielder: Lea Williamson (Arsenal) – Usually a centre-back, the England captain slashes into the midfield and takes control of the game. It even scored for the first time at club level in over a year.
Left midfielder: Kirsty Hanson (Aston Villa) – Another assist in Aston Villa’s win over West Ham took her WSL tally for the season to seven – only Guru Ritten now has more. But all of the Scotland winger’s passes have now come in the last six WSL matches alone.
Attacker: Frida Ma’noum (Arsenal) – With Stina Plakstenius ailing in preparation and only sitting on the bench, the versatile Norwegian was pushed forward into a ‘number nine’ role and made full use of her opportunity by leading the line and making it 2-0 before half-time.
Attacker: Khadija Shaw (Man City) – Her goals are 25 and 26 for the year 2022/23 in all competitions He set a new club record for most goals in a season. The latter was the 89th-minute winner over Brighton, which keeps City in a good struggle to qualify for the Champions League.
